The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Gta 3
The Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 4
Today we are once again locking and loading and getting ready to cause all kinds of destruction as we continue our Grand Theft Auto retrospective.
Grand Theft Auto 3 (2001,2002,2003) PlayStation 2, PC, Xbox
Grand Theft Auto 3 was a game changer for the GTA series and in gaming in general. The people at RockStar created an absolute monster in Grand Theft Auto 3 and while the PlayStation 2 was already a huge seller. GTA 3 for many people was the game that made them decide to take the plunge and pick up a PlayStation 2.
Grand Theft Auto 3 had a story where you played as a criminal called Claude, a man who was done wrong and now he wants revenge. As the first 3D GTA game, the story was not as in depth as it would later become. But there was enough of a story to keep you invested in the game.
It was the gameplay though that really blew people away. Grand Theft Auto 3 is an open world 3D game which at the time had not been seen on a console in this kind of scope (if even at all) you could pretty much just do whatever the heck you wanted and at the time this was something that was incredibly fresh and new. It offered so much freedom and gamers would spend more time going on killing sprees, stealing cars and just seeing all they could see in this massive world than they would actually playing the story!
Grand Theft Auto 3 was a huge hit on the PlayStation 2. It would be released on PC a year later in 2002 and then in 2003 a Grand Theft Auto collection would be released on Xbox that contained this and Grand Theft Auto Vice City.

Road To Red Dead Redemption 2: Red Dead Redemption
Road To Red Dead Redemption 2: Red Dead Redemption
Today we are saddling up as we are continuing our look at the road to Red Dead Redemption 2!
Red Dead Redemption (2010) PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Red Dead Redemption is one of the greatest games of its generation and for some people one of the greatest video games of all time. RockStar really did outdo themselves with this game and created one of the best stories, characters, and settings of any game.
The story sees you playing the role of John Marston. Who is a former gunslinger who used to run with a gang of bad guys. For years, John has left this life behind him as he tries to make a go of it on his ranch with his wife and son. But the past always has a way of catching up with you and government agents take his son and order him to bring in his former gang if he wants to see them again.
The story is just so well written and you really do care about John as he is a far more complex character than you first realize. The story of the game has you going all over the old West, Mexico, and even the cold North. Of course, you are playing the main story, but you get sucked into other people’s stuff as well such as the eccentric Nigel West Dickens and the revolutionary, Abraham Reyes. You encounter a ton of different characters and as well as the main story, there is a ton of side missions for you to do as well.
The gameplay of Red Dead Redemption is that of an open world, 3D action game. You can use horses to travel the land so you can explore or you can hop on a stagecoach. There is just a ton to see and do here from skinning animals, collecting plants and even hunting down bounties for cash!
Red Dead Redemption is one of RockStar games finest pieces of work and a game that should be in everyone’s collection.

Grand Theft Auto London Pt 2
Grand Theft Auto London Pt 2
Here at Mods R Us, we offer the best modded controllers for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. But as we are huge gamers, we want to talk to you about some of our favorite games. That is why we are looking at the history of the Grand Theft Auto series.
Grand Theft Auto London (1999) PlayStation, PC
Two years later, we would get some more GTA action in Grand Theft Auto London 1969. Interestingly on the PlayStation, this is a standalone title, but for PC it was sold as an expansion to the first game.
One thing that is notable about this is that this is the only Grand Theft Auto game that is actually based in a real city and not one that is made up. It still has that same over the top, looking down style the first Grand Theft Auto game had, but it had been given a real good lick of paint. They did such a great job in making the streets look like 1960’s London, it has a real “mods and rockers” kind of vibe from the art style, music, and the dialogue.
Grand Theft Auto London 1969 was not as universally acclaimed as the first game, mainly because while it offered the same kind of gameplay. London was nowhere near as large as the three cities, GTA offered and in many ways it felt like a slimmed down version of what Grand Theft Auto offered.
PC owners would get some more GTA London action as they got a free download of Grand Theft Auto London 1961. This is a prequel which offered more missions to do and carnage to cause.

Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Grand Theft Auto 2
Grand Theft Auto Retrospective Part 3
We are back again with our look back at the origins of one of the most popular video game series of all time, Grand Theft Auto!
Grand Theft Auto 2 (1999) PlayStation, PC, Dreamcast, GameBoy Color
Grand Theft Auto 2 was released in 1999 and it retained the same top down gameplay style as the original game and its London spin offs. While it had the same style, GTA 2 did polish up the graphics quite a bit and in general, things just had a much smoother and better look to them than the first game.
Grand Theft Auto 2 still let the player just go around the city (Anywhere City) and cause utter mayhem and taking part in all kinds of side missions. But Grand Theft Auto 2 was also very story driven, something that the other games in the series after this point would become known for.
You play the role of a guy who just got out of prison called, Claude Speed. He enters Anywhere City and he wants to become the king pin! He is willing to do whatever it takes to do this and kill anyone who gets in his way. The story is pretty darn cool and features things like the Yakuza and the Russian mafia. You have to walk a fine line when doing jobs for certain organizations as they will think you are exclusively on their side, which can make you a target for rival gangs.
While it is fondly looked back on now, Grand Theft Auto 2 when it was first released got mixed reviews. Many people felt the game looked exactly the same (even though it was polished up) and felt it was not a real step forward for the series. This would lead to DMA/Rockstar making some pretty big bold decisions for Grand Theft Auto 3!
