Call Of Duty: Black Ops Declassified

In our quest to give you a look at the origins of the Call Of Duty series, today we are looking at a spin off game that in many ways is one of the most ambitious titles released in the Call Of Duty series!

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Declassified 2012 PlayStation Vita, PlayStation TV

While there had been portable COD games before, none had managed to give you that console feeling in the palm of your hands. This was what nStigate Games were tasked with doing as Sony tried to convince the world that their Vita handheld could do all that a console could do.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Declassified was supposed to bridge the gap between Black Ops I and II. The game is very loosely based on these two games and does not actually feature a fully fledged single player campaign. Instead, you take on different stand alone missions. For on the go gaming, this was great, but many people felt that they could have added an actual campaign to Declassified
.
Declassified featured various, popular multiplayer game modes that you could play in 4 on 4 matches. The battles were not as large in scale as they were on console and people were not all that happy with the experience that it offered. Hostiles was an exclusive game mode and this was very similar to Survival Mode that was in Modern Warfare 3. With the idea being you had to survive wave after wave of enemies.

In all Declassified was a very ambitious title at the time and it did show that the potential was there for a full on Call Of Duty experience in the palm of your hand. But it did not live up to expectations. With tacked on touch controls and a very rushed kind of feel to it, Declassified got many negative reviews on release.

It would be the only COD game released for the PlayStation Vita. Which is a shame as the handheld perhaps could have given us that full COD experience on the go that many of us wanted.

At Mods “R” Us, we have made sure that when it comes to Call Of Duty our modded Xbox One controllers and our modded PlayStation 4 controllers are the best you can get. No matter if it is for Black Ops 3, Infinite Warfare or one of the older COD games, our controllers are the best! Well, today we are continuing our look at the COD games of the past!

Call Of Duty 3 – 2006 – Xbox 360, Xbox, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii

It would be Treyarch who would be at the helm for the second time with Call Of Duty 3. One of the most interesting aspects of Call Of Duty 3 is that this was not released on PC! That is right, Call Of Duty was released only on consoles and as well as the current gen (at the time) it was also released for original Xbox and PS2. An interesting fact about the game is that it was a launch title for both the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii.

The campaign in Call Of Duty 3 was very well received. The story was based on the Normandy Breakout and the 14 missions that span the US, UK, Canadian and French forces are all part of one single story. This was a very interesting move for the series and many people liked it better than each faction having its own campaign. The campaign had sky high production values and not a bad word was said about it.

The multiplayer aspect of Call Of Duty 3 was huge. It was one of the most popular online games on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It had a lot of game modes and both consoles saw it become one of the most played multiplayer games of 2006 and 2007.

Call Of Duty 3 was a huge game and the fact it was only on consoles makes it the only core Call Of Duty game to have done this.
