The History Of Call Of Duty: Pt 8 Modern Warfare 3
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
We are continuing our quest to look back at the fantastic history of one of the most popular video game series of all time, Call Of Duty!
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 2011 PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii
In 2011, Infinity Ward was back to bring a close on their very popular Modern Warfare series with Modern Warfare 3.
The game continued the story from the previous game and brought back villain Vladimir Makarov as Soap MacTavish and Captain Price try to track him down. Like the other Modern Warfare games, Modern Warfare 3 had its campaign split into different arcs where you could play as different characters. It was very well done and the writing, voice acting and even the pacing of the campaign were just right on point.
It had you on the edge of your seat right until the very end.
As far as the multiplayer goes, most people were very happy with it. As a matter of fact, you can still actually hop online on PlayStation 3 and play Modern Warfare to this day!
Instead of Killstreaks, you have Pointstreaks which is much harder to do and in all honesty, people were split on if they liked it or not. Still, multiplayer in Modern Warfare was a lot of fun and it was one of the most played games of 2011-2012.
Survival was a new game mode that was added and it was a co-op mode that saw you and a buddy fight off waves of enemies. It is basically, Infinity Ward’s answer to the Zombies game mode, but while it was fun to play it just did not have the charm that zombies had.
At release, Modern Warfare broke all kinds of sales records with over 1 million people lining up for midnight releases. It was a monster of a hit and a great way to close out this chapter of the Call Of Duty franchise.
